Genetic resources are essential for human life on earth. Trees, plants, fish and farm animals, microorganisms, bacteria and mushrooms are living natural resources which give us food on our plates, timber for our houses clothes to wear, medicines, recreation and biotechnology.
But let’s not forget – genetic resources are also tools. Tools that, if used in sustainable way, can help us adapt to the climate crisis, develop new food products, increase agricultural resilience, pave way for new biotechnological innovations and and help with the green transition.
This conference highlighed the role of genetic resources for a sustainable development. The the latest international policies, the Nordic ambition and solutions based on genetic resources in different forms were discussed and the participants were inspired by visions on how these resources can help us form a more sustainable and resilient society in the future!
